| Rub Proofing Tester Rotating speed 150 rpm, load on felt pad 0. 73 kg or 2. 5 kg, motor-AC synchronous motor-20kg. CM, counter four digit electric counter. Related Standard: • BS 3662 1962 methods for the determination of color fastness of leather SLTC SLF/5 • determination of fastness to rubbing (wet and dry) of light leathers satra pm 14 resistance to scuffing by mild circular abrasion. |
Water Proofing Tester Methods of Physical testing of leathers”, IS:5914 – 1970, Bureau of Indian Standard, Standard Water Proofing tester performed in accordance with ASTM D 2099-98
| Unilab Flexometer The unil flexometer is built on a rigid metallic base plate. Test specimens are held between a pair of stationary and oscillating grips. The grips are specially designed to enable quick fixing and removal of test specimens and are shaped to meet the specification of the test. in this test, test specimens in shape of rectangular pieces are folded and clamped at each end to maintain them in a folded position in a set of grips, one of which is fixed while the other is able to oscillate. The movement of the oscillating grip causes the fold in the test specimen to run along its centre. This operation is carried out repeatedly and the test specimens inspected periodically to assess the damage produced. The equipment used for this test is called as flexometer. Relevant specifications: IS 5914 – 1970 : methods of physical testing of leather lp 19 : flexing endurance
BS 3144 – 1968 : methods of sampling and physical testing of leather clause 13 : measurement of the flexing endurance of light leather and their surface finishes IUP / 20 – 1963 : official methods of international union of leather chemists’ societies

Fatigue Resistance Tester For Heels Of Ladies Shoes The ability of elevated heels of ladies shoes and sandals to withstand repeated lateral impacts without breaking off is determined by holding the heel in a suitable holder and giving repeated impacts of specified impact energy near its lower edge. The test is continued till the time the heel fractures, or till a total number of 20,000 impacts is given to the heel under test. The number of impact after which the heel fractures gives a measure of the fatigue resistance of the heel under test.
Related specification :
ISO 19956 – 2004 : Footwear – test methods for heels – fatigue resistance
SATRA PM 21 – 1988 : Fatigue test for shoe heels
BS 5131 (sec 4. 9) -1991 : Method of test for footwear and footwear materials section 4 . 9: fatigue resistance of heels of ladies’ shoes.
| Heat Resistance Tester The resistance of the surface finish and colour of leather to action of heating such as may occur when shoes are flamed, hot blasted, ironed, or subjected to other shoe making operations involving contact with hot tools, machine parts, air and gases, is determined by pressing a piece of finished leather under a copper bit maintained at different elevated temperatures for a period of five seconds under a specified load and evaluating the change in colour produced with the help standard grey scale for change in colour. SLF2: Society of leather trades chemists IS 6191 - 1971: Methods of micro-biological, colour fastness, and microscopical tests for leather IF 5: Determination of fastness to heat of coloured leather
